About Heidi
A painter and photographer based in Bethlehem, NH. Raised in a family of musicians, writers, painters, and photographers. My entire childhood was saturated in the arts. My work is influenced by my study of poetry, architecture and traditional arts including leather work and pottery. I was a member of the 2018 LEAP Cohort and former resident artist at 42 Maple Contemporary Art Center. I have shown my work at venues throughout the North Country including The Gallery at WREN and solo exhibits at 42 Maple Contemporary Art Center, The Loading Dock, and The Gallery at ACHS, Maia Papaya Café, and exhibit in 2018: The LEAP Cohort show at The Gallery at WREN. I am currently the owner and founder of PolyArt.35mill, a collaborative art space located next to The Loading Dock in downtown Littleton.
Over the last several years I’ve been lucky to photograph some very talented fire spinners. I often struggled with wanting to photograph them, video them or sit back and be memorized with the rest of the audience during their performance. This continued series is where I chose to use my bulb exposure to create a painting effect of the spinning fire. I call it light painting. For me this is a similar sense of letting go of control that I use in my painting with fluid acrylics. Both mediums force me to be patient, allowing my materials and the elements create an abstract image. The purpose of my work is to draw an emotion. Can you feel my emotion through each piece when I created them? What emotion calls to you when you look at them and is it the same each time you look at them? Outside of my abstract work I have worked on many commissions. Most recent was three 12’x20’ murals for the 2024 Nutcracker production by Evergreen Dance Studio collaboration with Dance Theater of Vermont.
